Economy continues growing too slowly to reliably lower joblessness

The Bureau of Economic Analysis reported today that the U.S. economy grew at a 2.0 percent annualized rate in the third quarter of 2012, which is roughly the same rate it has been growing since the beginning of 2010. Growth rates this low will not reliably lower joblessness in the years to come. Whichever candidate wins the presidential race will face an economy needing powerful and sustained policy actions to restore it to full health.
