I urge the Senate to swiftly confirm all five of the president’s nominees for the National Labor Relations Board that were sent to the floor by the Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee yesterday. A fully functioning NLRB is essential to protecting the rights of workers from unfair labor practices and labor policy is important to the economic success of both union and nonunion workers. The president’s nominees are qualified, politically balanced and not controversial. The Senate should vote to confirm them immediately. If politicians want to end the NLRB then they should try to repeal the National Labor Relations Act rather than attempting to accomplish this through the backdoor by leaving the agency without commissioners.
