On Wednesday, October 26th at 11:30 a.m. Eastern, the Economic Policy Institute will host a panel discussion to highlight new research that outlines the ways in which the gender wage gap is measured, answers questions about why women’s average hourly wages are lower than men’s, and details policies that can be employed to reduce the gap.

Culling from extensive national and regional surveys of wages, educational attainment, and occupational employment, the panelists will look at the gender wage gap from various angles. Additionally, the panelists will discuss how race, education, experience, and socioeconomic status can impact a woman’s wages.

Senior EPI Economist Elise Gould, along with Latifa Lyles, Director of the Women’s Bureau at the U.S. Department of Labor, Sarita Gupta, Executive Director of Jobs With Justice and Caring Across Generations, and Heidi Hartmann, President of the Institute for Women’s Policy Research will discuss the ways the gender wage gap hurts women across industries and what can be done to eliminate the gap.
