Slowing job growth reflects overall economy

August growth of 128,000 new jobs reflects the slowing of the rest of the economy.  Today’s  Jobs Picture, by EPI senior economist Jared Bernstein, points out that since April, payrolls averaged 119,000 new jobs per month, as compared to the more robust pace of 206,000 in the prior five months.  “While this slowdown in job growth may assuage inflation hawks, it hurts the prospects of many in the workforce,” said Bernstein.
