Economists ask president and congressional leaders to raise minimum wage

A letter sent to the president and congressional leaders today, calls on them to raise the minimum wage, the tipped minimum wage and index the wage to protect against inflation.  There has been no increase in the minimum wage for three years, which prompted the Economic Policy Institute and prominent economists, including a Nobel Laureate and a former Secretary of Labor, to appeal to lawmakers saying, “…a higher minimum wage at this juncture will not only provide raises for low-wage workers but would provide some help on the jobs front as well.”  Click here for full text of letter.
