Whether one looks at the concentration of wealth among the top one percent, stagnating wages for ordinary workers, stark wealth and income disparities by race and gender, increased poverty rates, or stalled economic mobility for those at the bottom of the income ladder, the evidence suggests that extreme inequality has grown dramatically in the U.S. since the 1970s.

Responding to those who say that inequality is the inevitable result of capitalism, three leading experts from the Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society at the University of California at Berkeley will discuss policies that can address extreme inequality and why building an inclusive economy should be a national priority.

This event will feature the release of the Haas Institute’s new brief, Responding to Extreme Inequality: Policy Interventions to Ensure Opportunity for All.
