No Way Out: Older workers are increasingly trapped in crummy jobs and unable to ever retire

Date: May 17, 2023

Workers who are 55 and older are increasingly forced to endure onerous, even dangerous jobs that do not provide the pay and benefits needed to allow them to retire. The Economic Policy Institute and the Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis hosted a virtual event shining a light on this problem and outlining policy recommendations that would alleviate the plight of older workers. The panel featured a discussion of the findings of SCEPA and EPI’s joint chartbook on older workers and retirement.
