Quits hit record high in Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey with little change in job openings and hires

High quits continue to be most notable in the leisure and hospitality super sector. Within that sector, the quits rate remains highest in accommodations and food services (6.6%) but increased the most in arts, entertainment, and recreation between August and September (3.2-5.7%).

While record high quits has remained the big story for the last couple of months, I expect hiring to rebound in the next #JOLTS report with receding Delta-driven COVID caseloads and the return of stronger job growth in the October jobs data. pic.twitter.com/3tEYc9UOyb
