Tuitions are rising, and it’s not because of overtime pay
The updated overtime pay rule ensures that more working people, including those at universities, are paid for every hour they work. A new Economic Snapshot shows that tuitions rose as overtime pay eroded. Thus, while university officials can blame tuition increases on drastic cuts in state funding and bloated executive pay, they are wrong to blame tuition increases on overtime pay for lower-level salaried workers.
