The Employment Unit of Greater Boston Legal Services (GBLS) is dedicated to combining individual legal services with systemic policy advocacy on behalf of community-based organizations with the goal of improving wages, job opportunities, job security, and benefits for low-income working families.
In systemic policy campaigns, GBLS provides technical legal expertise and advocacy capacity, while community-based organizations set the campaign agendas and engage in grassroots organizing. GBLS and our community-based clients also work closely with the Massachusetts labor movement, often joining forces with the Massachusetts AFL-CIO and individual unions to advocate on behalf of low-wage workers.

The Nevada Interfaith Council for Worker Justice is a membership organization of Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and Unitarian clergy dedicated to helping low-wage and immigrant workers secure better wages and working conditions. Through direct action, education, lobbying, legal work, and original research, we seek to ensure that all Nevada residents are active participants in economic and political life. Tennessee Industrial Renewal Network (TIRN) is a 10-year-old coalition of labor, community, and religious groups whose mission is to change economic policy so that it is fair to workers and uplifts communities. Originally formed in 1989 as a response to the plants that were closings throughout Tennessee, TIRN has since expanded to cover issues ranging from the increase in temporary jobs and inadequate wages to free trade and globalization.

The Women and Poverty Public Education Initiative (WPPEI), a project of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and the UW-Women’s Studies Consortium, is a collaboration that is working to establish comprehensive social policies that adequately support low-income workers. WPPEI is a unique effort that links University-based policy researchers with low-income women in order to analyze social and economic problems, develop public policy solutions, and work for change.
WPPEI has brought 15 Wisconsin organizations, research centers, and advocacy groups together to form the Wisconsin Alliance for Low Wage Workers. Three current priorities, supported by active work groups are: access to education and training, access to support service, and outreach to employers.
