The Economic Policy Institute is pleased to announce Kyle K. Moore as a new economist for the institute’s Program on Race, Ethnicity, and the Economy (PREE). His research background has focused on the intersection between racial economic disparities and health inequity, with particular focus on structural causes of morbidity and mortality differences across race.

“By exploring the connection between economic and health insecurity, Kyle Moore will strengthen and enhance EPI’s Program on Race, Ethnicity, and the Economy. His research and expertise could not come at a more important time as COVID-19 and the government’s inadequate response has disproportionately devastated Black and Brown communities,” said Director of PREE Valerie Wilson. “I am excited that Kyle will help us advance racial and economic justice as we rebuild our post-pandemic economy.”

Before joining EPI, Moore was a senior policy analyst with the Joint Economic Committee’s Democratic Staff, where he authored reports on economic policy issues centered on race, class, age, and gender disparities for use by Congressmembers and the general public.

In 2019, Moore was a Dissertation Scholar at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth. Prior to that, he worked as a Doctoral Fellow and Research Associate with the Retirement Equity Lab at the Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis.

At a time of extraordinary pain and suffering, we must push forward a policy agenda to ensure truly equitable and broadly shared prosperity.”

Moore earned his B.A. in Economics from Morehouse College, an M.A. in Economics from The New School for Social Research, and is a current Ph.D. candidate at The New School.
