News from EPI EPI launches new Worker Rights and Wages Policy Watch: Online tracker will provide up-to-the-minute updates on policy actions that affect working people

In an effort to track actions by the Trump administration, Congress, and federal agencies that affect working people and the economy, EPI has launched Worker Rights and Wages Policy Watch, an online clearinghouse cataloguing bills, regulations, executive orders, and presidential memoranda as they unfold.

“Despite their rhetoric, the president and Congress have sided, time and time again, with corporations and lobbyists over working people,” said Heidi Shierholz, who leads EPI’s Perkins Project on Worker Rights and Wages. “Sometimes little-noticed policy actions can have a big impact on working people. Our new tracker will help shine a light on these moves—from legislation rolling back important protections, to executive orders making it more difficult for families to save for retirement.”

Maintained by a team of economists and labor lawyers Worker Rights and Wages Policy Watch will help policymakers, reporters, and advocates keep up with policy actions and assess their impact on the economy and workers. The actions tracked will reveal whether and how the Trump administration, Congress and the courts are contributing to, or undermining, a fair economy. Are they moving us toward a fairer economy where workers see gains as the economy grows and their needs are addressed? Or are they favoring the already-affluent, corporate owners, and Wall Street?

Worker Rights and Wages Policy Watch is a project of EPI’s Perkins Project on Worker Rights and Wages—a policy response team that tracks the Trump administration’s wage and employment policies.
