It’s up to a Congressional conference committee now. Senate and House versions of a stimulus package are similar in size (more than $800 billion) but one is weighted more heavily toward job-creating public spending. As economist Alan Blinder said in a recent media call with EPI: “It would be an act of extreme national stupidity not to enact a large stimulus bill.”
