Spurring Job Creation
The role of aid to state and local governments
[See below for video and slideshows]
At this engaging EPI forum, Douglas H. Palmer, Mayor of Trenton, New Jersey, provided the keynote address and discussed how the recession has affected local governments and the difficult budget decisions that mayors across the country are facing. Mark Zandi from Moody's Economy.com, Iris Lav from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, and Ethan Pollack from EPI will then participate in a panel discussion moderated by Douglas Hall focusing on the magnitude of the fiscal challenges state and local governments will face in the next few years, how traditional attempts to close budget gaps will have significant economic consequences, and how federal fiscal policy can be used to ensure a robust recovery. This event was webcast live; see video and slideshows archived from the event below.
