Gender pay gap shrinking for all the wrong reasons

The gender pay gap shrunk over the last two years, but these declines were solely due to falling earnings for both men and women — with men’s wages falling more.  However, as EPI economist Sylvia Allegretto vividly illustrates in today’s Snapshot, the cheerless reason for the shrinking gap did not stop the Department of Labor from bragging about this “good news.”
