Labor market treading water
Despite ongoing improvements, the labor market still has a deficit of close to 10 million jobs. In today’s Jobs Picture, EPI economist Heidi Shierholz analyzes what it means when there is a lack of demand for workers, weak labor force participation and low wage growth.
Shierholz and EPI Research and Policy Director Josh Bivens discussed the unprecedented loss of public-sector jobs in this recovery in a blog post earlier today.
National employment and unemployment data are updated monthly on The State of Working America website.
