The Economic Policy Institute today released two analyses of the American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act of 2010 (H.R. 4213), critical jobs legislation that the House is taking up this week.  The first, New jobs bill would save or create well over a million jobs, examines the benefits the bill will have on the American economy and highlights the dangers of inaction.  It also emphasizes the importance of extending unemployment insurance benefits and COBRA tax credits through the end of 2010.  These benefits will expire next week if Congress does not renew them. 

The second report focuses specifically on unemployment insurance exhaustions, illustrating that the American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act will ensure that 5 million unemployed workers will continue to receive benefits until the end of 2010.
