Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 18, at 10 a.m., Economic Policy Institute Vice President Ross Eisenbrey will testify before the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Workforce Protections on Promoting the Accuracy and Accountability of the Davis-Bacon Act.

Eisenbrey will recommend against H.R. 448, which would shift the responsibility for gathering information supporting Davis-Bacon prevailing wage determinations from the Wage and Hour Division to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“The Davis-Bacon Act has served the public well for 80 years,” said Eisenbrey. “It keeps the federal government from depressing construction industry wages, supports the development of the next generation of skilled construction workers and ensures the highest quality work on federal projects. Nothing should be done to weaken the Act or undermine its effectiveness.”
