EPI President Lawrence Mishel is among the advocates, researchers and lawmakers called by President Obama to the White House today for a summit on the U.S. budget and the long-term deficit. Noting that the past three decades have seen an enormous transfer of wealth from the middle class to the very richest Americans, Mishel said that fiscal responsibility should begin with a reversal of tax policies that allowed the wealthy to avoid paying a fair share.
