Working families shortchanged

The new report from the Census Bureau makes it official: The 2000-2007 recession and tepid recovery cost the median working-age household some $2,000, after inflation, in lost income.

In today’s Snapshot, Jared Bernstein, director of EPI’s Living Standards Program shows what might have been. If the recovery of the 2000s had kept pace with the recovery of the 1990s, households would have gained about $3,600 instead of losing ground.
