Colombia – trade unionist murders and proposed free trade agreement

Since 1986, there have been more than 2,515 documented killings of trade unionists in Colombia, and over the past two years, none of the trade unionists’ murders has been brought to trail. Tony Avirgan, the coordinator of the Global Policy Network at EPI, reports in today’s Snapshot that despite the public outcry over these appalling human rights abuses, the Bush administration is seeking to reward the Colombian government with a free trade agreement.
