Mainstream investors seeking lower risk and higher returns are beginning to assess a firm’s labor and human rights practices in addition to more traditional factors, according to this new paper published by Harvard Law School’s Labor and Worklife Program. The study by Aaron Bernstein, a senior research associate at the program, contrasts this latest trend to long-standing efforts to promote moral values through socially responsible investing. The trend suggests a recognition that good employment practices are also good for business, according to the paper being jointly released by EPI and the Harvard program.
